Does this confirm the theory that old writers worked on early 4

I didn't read in to it.

Also the season 8 holdovers were produced along side the first few episodes of season 9. The weird airing order explains it. They still made the last few episodes of season 8 standard definition on purpose to keep them consistent with the rest of the season.

Hello Bikini Bottom has a model sheet dated March 23, 2012:

While Patrick Man, a Season 9A episode has one dated January 27th, 2012:

There's also a facebook post from January 21, 2012 stating that Johnny Knoxville had just finished his lines for Extreme Spots:

My theory as to why those episodes produced later on were still considered part of season 8 other than their aspect ratio; the episodes still signed off as season 8 were written and storyboarded first, I think the production codes are based on the episode's inception, while the episode numbers seen on the wikis are based on when they're complete.

Was that because it was accidently SD cropped when it originally aired?

The concurrent production timings of the season 8 holdovers and the first few episodes of 9A also explain why some scenes in Hello Bikini Bottom look compressed:

Doubt that theory is true, about the first few S4 episode being meant to be in 3.
Well i agree on that but i was meaning like it was produced somewhere in the gap of 2002 and 2004 so it might be that old writer worked
on season 4 due to model sheets which take a lot of time

Pre-movie ended production in mid 2002, 20 years ago.

The movie was in production for over a year. Season 4 I believe began production sometime around August 2004.

Reminds me of how season 3 of Regular Show started off with the s1/s2 style, and then switched to the stiff animation used in S4-S8 in Butt Dial.
Yeah it does i watched the show and it looked very weird it gives season 1 like vibes of sb what your opinion on the season 4 theory and how the shifts of art styles from classic to more modern

It's honestly weird. The first few episodes of season 4 also have a more subdued tone, more water based sound effects like pre movie does. Season 4 was a transitional phase.
Yeah and its atmosphere was superb what's closest season 4 picture to a classic season fun fact many people consider krusty tower a season 3 episode

Season 2 of Dexter's Lab suffers from the Butt Dial effect, every episode before "Photo Finish" has more balanced colors and more fluent animation:

Episodes in the part of season 2 that's closer to Ego Trip have a reddish tint and more streamlined designs and movement:

Dexter's hair is also red in this half of the season instead of orange. This isn't a color pallet choice, this is a mastering issue, as the animation cels for those episode don't look like that, although Dexter's darker hair color is still present on the cels:
