Are or were your parents strict?

Title says it all. =P


My parents don't let us do A LOT. I'm not allowed to watch R-rated movies, go on SBC because it isn't kid-friendly, and I'm finally getting my cell-phone... and I'm almost 13. Sometimes, they're just simple, and are like "Yeah, whatever." There are some things that they have to monitor, or sometimes they just won't let my play certain video games, like first-person shooters.

So, sometimes they just don't care, but otherwise, they are strict.
How are your parents? :)
 
American parents:

Parent: Johnny, did you get at least a B on the math test?
Kid: No, mom, I GOT AN A FOR ONCE!! :D :D
Parent: A $100 GIFT CARD TO GAME STOP!! :xdmagic:

MY PARENTS:

Parent: Chunnidar, did you-a get the "A" on the math test-a?
Me: Hah, mummy. I did so.
Parent: Did you get the bonus? -_~
Me: but there WAS no bonus... =/
Parent: That is it, I am-a calling the school. >_>
Me: but MOM THERE WAS NO BONUS!!
Parent: No, no, this has-a been going on-a for too long. >_>

just kidding, i don't mean to offend any americans, there are americans who i've told this joke to and they find it funny.
 
My mom has always had the philosophy of "do what you want but i don't want you to complain about it in the morning". She lets me see what i want and read what i want. I give my own bed time (which ends up always being 9-9:30) too. She doesn't really care.

My dad, however, still thinks that i'm 12. He doesn't like it when i swear or see rated R movies that has minimal sex or violence in it. He doesn't like it when i'm on my computer, he thinks i'm looking at scandalous things. I go to his house every other weekend and i think he doesn't really care about the time i go to bed.

My parents have different philosophies.
 
My parents loosened up over time. Of course me and my siblings are all older now so they aren't strict at all. As long as I'm not being an idiot, there's no problems... and I'm usually not an idiot so it's all good
 
They were pretty strict about technology. I wasn't allowed a mobile phone 'til I was 16/17 because my mum thought I'd get a brain tumour and we didn't get the internet until I was about 15. It made doing homework a pain.
 
My parents ARE strict, I mean seriously. I'll take the approach from NP02 :

Mum : Matthew, darling, how's your Math test?
Me : I got a B-
Mum : WHAT?!?!?! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!! THAT'S IT! NO TV FOR 2 WEEKS!!
Me : :nono: Oh for ::dolphin noise:: sake . . .

No, I mean seriously. When we started talking about scores? My mum is that strict. I need to be soo perfect!
 
Oh god.... my parents are REALL strict!

-If I get below a 95 on ANYTHING, I am not allowed to do anything fun for the rest of the week
-They'll disown me if I am not 6 ft, a doctor, smart, muscular, rich and muslim.
- I'm expected to be like my sister, and when I'm not, I'm useless in their eyes
- They expect me to live with them forever until they die
- Usually, to get on SBM/SBC, I have to do homework alongside
 
You bet my parents are strict! They always tell me to do chores for them all the stinking time! "SpongyMaterial do this", "SpongyMaterial do that"! Ugh. Also, this year, my parents punished me for getting a C- on a recent Math test! It's just a stupid C-! Also, every time they see me watching TV, they say "You're banned for a month!" WTF?! My parents weren't like this before this year began! I want this year to end right now. I'm not kidding.

Anyways, my parents are just like most other parents. They aren't too strict, but they don't let me get away with everything..
 
I would answer yes and no. My dad is more of the "Loose but strict when necessary". My mom is more of the "Anything bad happens and I will yell at you." What makes it even worse was when I got B's in my classes. Funny story: They were in algebra and geometry, the latter being super hard. My mom got really mad at me for getting a B-, a STILL above average grade, for a week. Luckily, they were more lenient this time around. On the bright side, we go out of town a lot :). They are mostly/sometimes nice.

Nope, my parents are average. They let me go to places with my friends all the time. I pretty much get away with everything. :hehe:
 
Not really no to be honest. I didn't have any restriction on my internet growing up, thinking about it now it's a relief I didn't ever see any adult sites lol.
 
They didn't punish me for getting bad grades, but their expectations of me were way too high. They equated "academically successful" with "wants to be a doctor or some other highly paid professional".
