How "The Gift of Gum" & "Fungus Among Us", and then "The Battle of Bikini Bottom" & "Sandcastles in the Sand" are basically the same episodes?

1. Some unwanted object comes into SpongeBob's posession
2. Attempts to get rid of it.
3. Spreads
4. The whole town gets involved
5. Just when all is lost, someone shows up and eats them out of the mess.

or

1. SpongeBob and Patrick plan a fun day; scenes show their best friendship
2. They become involved in a friendly competition
3. They get carried away; all-out war
4. They lose everything and realize they got carried away
5. They make up
6. SpongeBob makes some big speech about fighting/friendship that no one cares about.

Discuss.

Only difference is that Sand Castles in the Sand was less idiotic. Clean vs dirty? That is the worst plotline in Nickelodeon history.

I get "The Battle of Bikini Bottom" & "Sandcastles in the Sand." I've only seen "The Gift of Gum" once, and I don't really remember it. But I think we can all agree that NONE of the new episodes have original storylines...

Or how about we talk about the 50-odd post-movie episodes that go like this:

1. SpongeBob does something.
2. Squidward gets annoyed to no end.

Of course, this was prevalent pre-movie as well, but it worked because a) they didn't rely on it for EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. b ) they still had a little something, lost in this world now as far as I'm aware, called HUMOR in them, and c) Squidward sometimes got his way. (Okay, in two episodes, but that's "sometimes" by SB standards.)

2. Coyote f***s up and gets blown up
Come on guys, the show may suck nowadays, but recurring plotlines are a part of any children's cartoon, especially one that doesn't take itself seriously like SpongeBob. If there were actual jokes in these episodes I doubt anyone would care about the stupid plots.

I noticed the same between "F.U.N." and "New Leaf"

1. Plankton tries to become friendly to retrieve the Krabby Patty
2. Everybody believes he has changed except Mr. Krabs
3. He befriends someone from The Krusty Krab

"Texas" and "Chimps Ahoy"

1. Sandy sings a sad song in each episode, both make SpongeBob and Patrick cry
2. Sandy has to move back to Texas (the main difference is that in one episode she wants to go, the other she doesn't)
3. SpongeBob and Patrick try their best to keep her in Bikini Bottom
4. Even though their attempts are not very good, they still manage to keep her in town

2a. Tom fails, 2b. Tom wins, 2c. Tom and Jerry team up, which leads up to...
3. Tom and Jerry help out a friend

You know, I'm pretty darn sharp on my classic cartoons.

-The characters' voices are so ::dolphin noise:: high it's annoying to no end
-Spongebob and Patrick have gone brain-dead
-Live-action shots and innuendos are abandoned
-There is some incredibly gross moment for no reason
-There is some incredibly bad song for no reason
-Dear Vikings sucks!!!!!
