Anyone miss Nicktoons Network?

The Real Nostalgia Critic

I mean, anyone miss when this channel was called Nicktoons Network and it was the "animation capital of the world"? When Kappa Mikey was still on? Those commercial-free blocks? Those cool bumpers they aired featuring people dressed as Nicktoons? When they aired shorts to fill time between a program? When Nick was actually worth watching? Well, I missed these things so much that I made a whole topic about it! Let us talk about what it was and not what it has become! Oh and here are some nostalgic videos:

YES! This channel was so awesome back in the day though I had been watching it before they decided to change the name to Nicktoons Network in the first place as far back as 2004 or 2003 for me. They always had interesting bumpers IMO. I think they started out as Nicktoons TV and dropped the TV part of their name for a while and then changed their name to that. When I had lost complete interest in Nickelodeon itself, I was still watching that channel and Boomerang for quite a while until they started to suck too.

The memories of being able to watch Angry Beavers and Rocko's Modern Life every morning before going to school and then watching stuff like Invader ZIM and Ren and Stimpy on weekends was the best feeling ever and also being able to still watch other shows like Jimmy Neutron and more obscure shows like Corneil and Bernie and Kaput and Zosky when I felt like it was great too. I also remember when they had that Three Headed Monster block and a lot more.

OMG THAT GUANO BUMPER. <3 *ahem* I mean cool. That costume was actually used at a Kappa Mikey convention booth too.

Tbh I still find NN watchable, a lot more watchable than Nick these days. It does play classic FOP and SB episodes which is a bonus, even if their episode selection is limited. All the 90's stuff is on 90's Are All That so I'm not concerned about that. NN had a weird but likable commercial style. (The Three Headed Monster block use to scare me a bit as a kid. :p )

*cough* Kappa Mikey needs to come back as a reboot on CN more than anything. *cough* :dunno:

Say what? Give me a time machine, I need to see this.

I totally miss it, but it's just okay now.
Where I live, the only SpongeBob they show is seasons 1-4 from 9:00 PM to Midnight on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

I actually totally agree with this!

Yeah, if memory serves me correctly, they had commercial free blocks for shows like My Life as a Teenage Robot, SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron where they would play two 20-minute episodes of a show and then play a 10-minute segment of an episode to fill up time.

As for the shorts, the only ones I remember seeing are the Domo ones and they would usually come after the 10-minute episodes shown above.

The only time I got it was when Dish Network shown a free preview of NickToons in February 2013.

Other than that, I never received it.

I've had Nicktoons Network (or Nicktoons as it is now called) since 2006 - first thing I ever watched was a re-run of My Life As A Teenage Robot. Man I have so many good memories of the channel (The Secret Show, Rugrats being on at 9am CT for an hour, Ren and Stimpy at 2pm CT for an hour - an actual GOOD time slot, etc.). The bumpers were creative, the shows were awesome, the lineup was great, the time filler shorts were great, the entire channel was great.

Then September 28th, 2009 happened...

Actually, the channel was still watchable at that time, even though they changed the logo and bumpers.

Just barely watchable for me - I hated the new Nick logo with a passion (and I still would rather have the splat on but I've gotten used to it). The bumpers weren't as creative anymore - the only thing really left was some of the classics (which pretty much flew the coup one by one to the point that by 2011 they were all gone).

They stopped showing the classic Nicktoons because of TeeNick's "90s Are All That" programming block. But, I miss when they showed the classics. The schedule they have now doesn't live up to my standards. And, you might disagree with me here, but I kind of miss the bumpers thet used from 2009-2014.
