This episode had potential. It really did. It was good for the most part. Then the ending came around. I HATE the ending. I HATE it. It's easily the worst ending in all of Season 1. Had that ending not have happened, I would have liked this episode. But no, the ending has to be slapped on to drag the episode down.

The ending isn't too bad, Squidward did all of this too himself. It follows the same format as episodes like Just One Bite, Snowball Effect, or Idiot Box do, he does it all to himself. I may never get the hate for this one.

This episode is pretty boring, and has a pretty annoying setup. It has some decent jokes, like the one where SpongeBob uses the paper as a slideshow, but it's not not good.

This one is just plain boring to me. Sure it was kinda cool seeing all the stuff Spongebob did with the paper but it doesn't really do anything beyond it's concept. It just feels like the episode never gets going. It also wasn't very funny and Squidward just annoys me for the most part. Mildly entertaining moments here and there but it's mostly just boring and unfunny.

Plot is simple, but not too simple. Humor is good, but not that good. I think this is a pretty good episode though. I really like the montage of SpongeBob playing with the paper. I also liked the part where Squidward tries to play with the paper. It was boring at times, but not boring enough for it to go down to a six, or even a five.

BRUH I REALLY HATE THIS EPISODE! The storyline is weak the plot feels like it was rushed and the episode its-self also feels rushed. The ending was plain old terrible. The episode was also boring as hell.

It's time to stop the hate! I will never understand why people hate this episode so much, what did it ever do to you??? It's yet another example of SpongeBob being absolutely adorable in season 1. It's also a very joke-heavy episode, focusing less on the plot, and I think it works very well here.

The beginning of this episode reminds me of "Reef Blower", with Squidward littering on SpongeBob's lawn, and that begs the question of if Squidward even learned his lesson in "Reef Blower". I guess not haha.

I think this episode is pretty funny. Now, not every joke hits, like SpongeBob's initial playing with the paper doesn't really do it for me, but I do find it cute, so that's a win in my book. "The Paper" largely picks up after a few minutes, probably when SpongeBob starts doing impressions with the paper. The ending of this episode has a great stinger as well, with Squidward losing everything just to get the paper. I also liked SpongeBob enjoying Squidward's stuff. Also Gary on the clarinet is absolutely adorable!

SpongeBob throwing Squidward's words right in his face always gets at least a chuckle out of me, since it's done in flipbook form, and with complete earnestness on the part of SpongeBob. I really just adore all the little shenanigans SpongeBob gets up to with this piece of paper. I think my favorite part is SpongeBob using the paper to play music, that's just brilliant!

This episode feels a lot like "Idiot Box", which I guess means that that episode feels a lot like "The Paper". But anyway, y'all know how much I love seeing Squidward break that serious facade he wears, and boy does he in this episode. Seeing him slowly get jealous over how much fun SpongeBob has with a single piece of paper, not realizing that the real thing he's jealous of is SpongeBob's childish joy...I feel like this episode has a lot to say to adults in general. And this is why I try to live my life like SpongeBob, finding joy in the smallest things, even a tiny piece of paper.
