May 1st, 2009 - SpongeBob SquarePants 10th anniversary.

I think they might air a special one hour episode.
What do YOU think might happen that day?
 
I got so excited when I got my 2009 Spongebob calendar and on the cover it says "Celebrating his 10th anniversary!" So, apparently they're planning on putting even more merchandise with the motif out there. I expect some sort of special, maybe another tv movie and a marathon, not a series finale...please! O_o

I saw that exact same calendar when I was at the calendar kiosk at my local mall one day.

The guys at Nickelodeon did something BIG for Rugrats and Blue's Clues, I'm guessing they might do something just as special since this show has a cult following consisting of both kids and adults.

I also hope they bring back some t-shirts that they discontinued years before, as well as work with LEGO Group to design a few SpongeBob 10th Anniversary building sets. I also hope that they can release a Haapy Meal or kids meal tie-in at McDonald's or another fast food outlet like Wendy's or Burger King. Maybe they could release a few TV specials, one in May, one in July, each of the months that SpongeBob first started its run. Only time will tell what will happen.
 
What They Will Do:
  • Change the merchandise motif. This will feature SpongeBob's face on all the packaging with a "10th Anniversary" blurb.
  • Release single-episode DVDs under the new motif with a stuffed animal based on the episode. They already have "Karate Choppers", "Something Smells" and "Naughty Nautical Neighbors".
  • Beanie-babies based on episodes for $3 each.
  • Marathon and/or special.
What They May/Should Do:
  • Release a special edition "10th Anniversary" DVD set (Maybe box set)
  • Burger King tie-in promo.
  • Have a marathon with EVERY SINGLE SpongeBob episode in production order

What they should also do is release a new Special featuring Patchy the Pirate after the marathon in May 2009 and before the SpongeBob Movie.
They should do something similar for July 2009, but with another batch of new episodes after the special which was released in May.
Collectible SpongeBob LEGO sets.
A 10th anniversary SpongeBob DVD.
 
They WILL do a marathon or something.

They SHOULD realise that the dude's had his day, write a final episode that's GOOD, and close the book on SpongeBob. Sad but true.

I don't think they do anything huge... probably not even as big as the best day ever

A year ago I would have agreed with you on that, but now. If you ask me ten years is a long time, longer than I thought they'd last. I think they should do a huge series finale movie and be done for good. Cause honestly, the shows not that good anymore. :P
 
Why must we discuss this now? We still got 8 months to find out what happens...

just a special TV movie or a second movie.
