Let's settle the 16-bit wars once and for all. Which was the better consoles, the SNES or the Sega Genesis/Megadrive?

Personally, I think the SNES's better 3rd party support and controller make it the winner.

never had a genesis, and i have too many fond memories of playing on my mom's old SNES, so this is an easy choice for me: SNES.

I'm too young to have actually owned either console, but based on the games I've played through emulators/Virtual Console/re-releases etc., my favourite has to be SNES.

Really, the only good games on the Genesis that were real accomplishments for Sega in the 90s were the Sonic trilogy (+Sonic CD). Remember, Super Nintendo had Super Mario World, F-Zero, A Link To The Past, Super Castlevania IV and Super Mario Kart (among others), and all of them were released before Sonic 2 (and it already outweighs the Sonic platforners on Genesis)!

SNES for sure. Better game library plus I feel like the graphics (although I think today's graphics are all anyone talks about rather than the gameplay) are better, too.
