Do you have any friends that aren't SB experts like us, and make you laugh or cringe when they say something about SpongeBob that isn't true? Discuss.

Someone I know said there was an episode where SpongeBob lost Gary, and he had a flashback of when he first got Gary, saying it was a gift from his parents or something, which I find really stupid cuz that WAS never an episode.

I also thought Home Sweet Pineapple was the first episode of SB when I was younger.

Not really untrue things but people usually say "the marching band episode" or "the chocolate episode" when it's Band Geeks and Chocolate With Nuts. It's not THAT noobish but something to point out I guess.

Gay Spongebob is the only one that comes to mind. Aside from that most people I know know Spongey like the back of their hand.

Well, it was meant to be an adult cartoon. ;p
Actually it was always meant to be a Nicktoon, Stephen never pitched the series to any adult network. Also, Wikipedia is not a reliable source since anyone can edit it

There are rumours though that when the series got popular, Stephen was approached by Spike TV to make an adult version of the show

When I watched the first Spongebob Squarepants Movie with my mom recently, she honest-to-god asked me, "Is Stephen Hillenburg gay?" I asked her, "why would you ask that?" and she said, "Because I know a lot of gay guys who are really into David Hasslehoff," and she cited Hasslehoff putting Spongebob and Patrick into Hasslehoff's pectoral muscles..... this is also doubly weird when you remember that Spongebob was originally a sort of self-insert of Stephen Hillenburg himself.

I remember that rumor! Always wish that happened.
