Squidina's Scribbles (Updated - sorry, will keep adding here..)

Well, first, a thank you to the Squiddiams for all their wonderful encouragement in sharing my art here! <3


Now, first, a little about me artistically, if you don't mind.

I've been drawing since I could put a pencil to paper, it has been something that has defined me my whole life. Friends IRL could tell stories about how I'd sit with them at coffee shops with a clipcase drawing - or how I almost always had my drawing supplies with me.
I'm also self-taught, pretty much. When I first got internet back in the 90's, I got lucky enough to find myself in a community with other artists and learned a lot with and from them - getting some great tips and such. The internet has since provided me with a lot of help - on DA, I know a few great artists, and have also found that there are lots of blogs from the real professionals with tips.

Styles that have inspired me are Disney, Anime (DBZ was a big inspiration), Cartoons, and stuff like that. All those years of practice and stuff have helped me to be able to tackle a number of styles with relative ease. I have also taught a couple short art classes (as a special guest 'teacher') - those were so much fun.

I still have a heckuvalot to learn, though; there is tons of things that I majorly struggle with.



Anyway, I do have a DeviantArt gallery, and, thanks to DiabolicalGenius's encouragement, I shall share it here (as there is no SB stuff, I sorta figured it wouldn't be appropriate): marijke-rose.deviantart.com

I have no SB stuff there, but will post some here.


To start off, I'll just post a little practice page I'd done of Squidward - it's poor quality, but as said, just a quick practice page, and I had no better art supplies at the time.

If my DSL wasn't being a barnacle head, I could share more - it'll just have to wait.

I'm glad you like them! I've started on trying to draw SB (he's somehow out of my comfort zone), and Plankton (I'm finding him easier than Squidward).

You have good drawings!

So, here's the new one with my not so good attempt at SB.. and sort of okay Plankton.. And just a fun quick attempt at an action-y pose of Squidward freaking out; and one of Squilliam in what was my attempt at a quick dancy type pose.




And just a little gushing over Squilliam - again, on bad medium... and not while I don't have anything else, just because it's... kinda sorta my fave medium at the moment, and I'm generally in a phase of just trying to draw whatever comes to mind as quickly as possible.
So... I tried to draw him with a rose in his mouth.
I'll just never get roses down... (Not for lack of trying, practicing, etc..., but rather that roses are just something I can't quite seem to figure out..)



Again, sorry, it's a photo of the pic... I actually do have both a good scanner and a non-functioning tablet, but... I don't have either of those available currently.


As I think I'm only allowed to upload two at a time as attachments, then I think that's it for now.

And thank you again! The SB style style in whole offers so much in the way of fun expressions.

And another, this one just for LOL's and 'cause of this SBM Weddings thread. Ssj4gogita4 and I got SBM married.

A note: I didn't have a reference of SSJ4 Gogita at the time I drew this and couldn't recall how he looks exactly, so I went with SSJ3 at the time, d'oh!
It's been forever since I drew a DBZ character - some of said art can be found on my DA page - so, this is the first time in years.

And, yeah, I was considering to put one of those water bowls on her head, like what SB usually wears in Sandy's Treedome, but... forgot about it until I was done inking.

And here's another, and sorry it's kinda blurry/fuzzy.

You can either take it as Squidiam, or simply as happenstance. I heard this statement somewhere (about 'didn't fall, attacked the floor', and '...Backwards?' and 'I'm talented'), and had to work it into a pic.

Aaand here's another one.

This one includes a couple OC's of mine. My character Squidina, and her dad, and Squilliam. Well, first, I need to say that I've given my OC a background.

Squidina is the daughter of a very rich, elite man. They have a house in Tentacle Acres (that was the name, right?); my Squidina is a professional photagrapher, and her dad is an extremely rich guy who is extremely critical of *everything*! He's your typical cynical rich old guy, where nothing and no one is good enough for him. He even looks down on Squilliam. He smokes a pipe, he has a wine collection, and probably a bunch of portrates of himself. And he even looks down upon his daughters - he has two, Squidina has a twin sister named Squilina, which I've never mentioned until now. Squidina is a photographer, and her sister is an opera singer. (They're identical twins, and Squidina is the first born.)

So, Squiderick van Calamari (his name is a mix of Squid an Frederick, and "van Calamari" is an elite type of name , er, and keeping with the squid thing)., the dad, has a huge mansion in tentacle acres, and probably other houses in other parts of the seas. He's totally eccentric, and totally looks down on everyone. Even Squilliam isn't quite good enough for him, and not to mention what he thinks of his daughters (he ignores them, mostly, as they are 'just women'..) - he openly laments that he wishes he'd have had sons.

Hell warm up to Squilliam, though... as soon as he hears that Squilliam is also extremely rich and has a 'Baloon casino', 'Private yacht', blah, blah, blah...
